Interview Report of an Entrepreneur Name School Professor Course Date Many people see successful businesses ran by old and young people. The interesting thing is that most people wish to own those businesses however; they do not know what it all requires. This report of an interview I contacted on a fellow student is aimed to bring light in the field of entrepreneurship to educate students on what is involved in entrepreneurship field. The interviewee I interviewed is Danstan undergraduate students in his twenties who has yourself to grow business wise. This involves starting falling and rising. The downfalls can be very painful such that one may opt to quit but then that proves you are not an entrepreneur since being entrepreneur means taking risks allowing yourself to be challenged and eventually ripping the rewards. From this interview I learnt that being an entrepreneur you must be ready to take risks. It is not all times that you are going to succeed; you may fall but then remember to stand up again.
The 2010 U.S. Census Bureau report revealed that 27.9 million small businesses make up 99.7 percent of U.S. employer firms. The purpose of this assignment is to examine in depth, the risks, rewards, challenges and opportunities of operating a small business.
You are required to:
• Interview a small business owner,
• Write a 2 to 3-page paper
Interview a current business owner
This can be a business owner in the community, a relative. or friend.
Your interview must address each of the topics below:
• Background of the Entrepreneur. This section addresses “who”. Provide some background information on the entrepreneur – experience, education, training, etc.
• The Venture. This section addresses why, how, what and when. Why did the entrepreneur decide to go into business? Why this particular business? How did s/he do it? What is the main product or service provided by the business? When was the business started?
• Struggles and Challenges. Difficult issues and/or challenges the business owner has faced, how these were overcome, and what new challenges s/he faces.
• Risks and Rewards.
• Learning on the Journey. What the owner has learned about business and life on this entrepreneurial journey, including any advice on starting and running a business.
• Your Own Learning. This section should address the insights, observations or lessons about business ownership you gained as a result of this interview and report.
Paper 100 pts.
Write a two – three-page report of your findings in narrative form, including the above listed topics. Do not simply list the questions and answers.
• Identify the entrepreneur, the name of the business, and the location. Be sure to include a section describing your learning as a result of the assignment.
• The paper should be written in APA format including a cover page and reference page. This includes double-spacing, with 1″ margins on all sides. Use a 10- pt. Times New Roman font. Your paper should be 2-3 pages long, not including cover page and references.
The assignment will be graded on the quality and thoroughness of your interview, how well you address the topics related to the business owner and his/her venture, and the level of analysis demonstrated in linking your findings to concepts covered in this course.
